UIDAI lets those who have Aadhaar cardsto change their address without requiring any documents. Aadhaar cardholders could change their address, if they had not presented proof of identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily shut down a vital feature that lets you alter your Aadhaar card's address without a documentary proof of address.
UIDAI lets cardholders with Aadhaar cards to change their address with no need for any proof of identity. Aadhaar card holders can alter their address if they agree to the authentication for the verification of address. An address verifier can be a close friend, relative landlord, family member or even a friend who permits the Aadhaar card holder to utilize their address as proof.
UIDAI is now stopping this facility. UIDAI replied to an Aadhaar Card owner via Twitter, stating that the option to update address on the Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Letter is no longer available. UIDAI has asked Aadhaar issuers to remind the Aadhaar issuer to advise users that they have the option to update their address by using another acceptable PoA document.
Dear Residents Attention: The Contact Validation Letter service has been removed until the next notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
